A satisfactory grade is 50%. If your course includes tests, your final
grade is a combination of marks earned on the section assignments (usually
40% of total) and on all tests (usually 60% of total). Some assignments
may be marked according to specific, numbered criteria. Your instructor
will convert these marks into letter grades for report card purpose.
Check your module overview to find out if the course is a provincially
examinable course as this may affect how the final grade is determined.
If you are enrolled in a school or are a full-grade student in a distance
education school, you can expect to receive at least two term reports
and a final report during each school year. If you have not completed
your course by the end of the school year, you may receive an "I" notation
for "incomplete."
An "I" notation means that expected learning outcomes have not been
achieved and further development is required. If you receive the symbol
"I", you will also receive a written comment that details what you must
do to achieve course credit.
"I's" may be given at any time during the year. In fact, an instructor
cannot give a student a failing grade until an "I" is first given along
with suggestions for improvement. That means that a student cannot receive
an "F" on any formal report until an "I" is given.
