Earth Science 11 is an introduction to the diverse aspects of earth and space science.    Completion of this course will fulfill the Science graduation requirement.

 

COURSE OUTLINE

Course mark to be determined by Science Supervising Teacher generally based on the formula:
Module Tests = 70% of course mark / Written Assignments (Send-ins) = 30% of course mark
Students must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the concepts in this course to receive credit.

It is recommended that students complete:

Section 4:  Earth’s Moon
Module 1 Test covers the work of Module 1.

Module 2:  Earth Materials and Geological Time

Section 6:  Rocks
Section 7:  Resources and the Environment
Section 8:  Studying the Past/Geological Time
Module 2 Test covers the work of Module 2.

Module 3:  Internal Processes and Plate Tectonics
Section 9:  Plate Tectonics
Section 10: Volcanoes
Section 11: Earthquakes
Section 12: Mountain Building
Module 3 Test covers the work of Module 3.

Module 4:  Surface Processes and the Hydrosphere
Section 13:  Weathering, Soil, and Erosion
Section 14:  Atmosphere
Section 15:  Water in the Atmosphere
Section 16:  The Water Planet
Module 4 Test covers the work of Module 4.
