English 9, version 05

It is recommended that students complete:
• English 8

Students will not be required to complete all 6 modules.

The English 9 course consists of only three modules.

Students MUST complete modules 1 and 6.

Students will choose one other "choice" module: (2, 3, 4, or 5 ) to complete the course. A Module "choice" must be made at registration in consultation with your Distance Education School advisor.

*** If you do not make a choice at registration, the default choice will be Module 2.

Most modules have five sections and a module test.
The modules are thematic and focus on elements of literature including a novel, and a combination of short stories, folk tales, poetry or a play.
The questions found in the self-marking activities, the sendin activities and the tests emphasize thinking skills as well as content recall.

A Supplemental Language Activity Booklet will be sent out by the Distance Education School Instructor to students who require additional language assistance. Writing on the Run! may be optained for enrichment.

Use of an audio tape recorder is compulsory for listening and public speaking. This course also has an optional video component. A video tape recorder is required for the tapes obtained from the Distance Education School.
