Course Description
This is a practical course. Although some reading and writing is required, this course is mostly about helping you to explore and enjoy your artistic talents and expand how you can express yourself, while improving your photographic skill.
By the end of this course you will:
- understand the basics of photography, including such concepts as the basics of composition, the elements of style, light metering, proper exposure and the use of lenses,
- consciously use light and the concepts above to create better photographs,
- understand the key concepts of digital image capture such as pixels, file types (RAW and JPEG), colour temperature, digital ISO, file and image sizing,
- deal more successfully with difficult lighting conditions, including various colour temperatures and a broader dynamic range,
- use the knowledge you have gained to optimize your own use of your digital camera,
- enjoy more insights into the historical and social impacts of photography,
- find a digital workflow solution that is useful to you, and
- use image processing software to edit and optimize the impact of your photographs.
