Physical Education 12, ONLINE (4 credits)

The Physical Activity portion of this course can also be recorded as Daily Physical Activity requirements.

PE 12 consists of four (4) written assignments and 100 hours of physical activity.
Students choose one sport or a wide variety of activities to meet the required minimum 100 hours of physical activity.

Course Evaluation: - all assignments are weighted at 25% of the final mark but the minimum 100 hours of physical activity must be met to receive course credit.

Assignment 1 Community: Develop a comprehensive plan for a recreational or sports activity in your community.

Include the following:
¥ background information you collect to assist with your planning
¥ promotional plans and materials
¥ registration or entry procedures
¥ booking facilities
¥ scheduling
¥ recording results
¥ providing for rewards, awards, recognition

Assignment 2: Leadership: Develop a plan for a 30-minute practice or workout within one sport to improve a specific skill.

Include:
¥ description of group you are planning for (age, ability)
¥ description of skills you are teaching
¥ your practice plan; warm-up, demonstration, activities, cool-down, closure

Assignment 3: Active Living
For a period of two weeks, create a chart to record your daily routines and habits including your diet, sleep and exercise. Use your chart to develop generalizations about how daily routines affect energy levels. Develop a Best Practices chart showing an "ideal" routine (refer to Canada's Food Guide). Create a plan to change and monitor your routines and habits to comply with your ideal chart.

Include the following:

¥ Daily Routine Chart
¥ Generalizations
¥ Best Practice Charts
¥ Your Plan

Assignment 4: Sport Science
Care and prevention of an athletic injury.
Or
Analyze and design plans for stress management and relaxation.
Or
Demonstrate an understanding of how the cardiovascular, muscular, and skeletal systems relate to human performance.
Include the following:

¥ written report
¥ visuals (pictures, charts etc.)
