Welcome to South Central Interior Distance Education School! …A school with passion for providing unique personalized educational opportunities for our students. I am very proud to be a part of a team that aspires to that!
Why do I love small towns?
For their feeling of community. No one is left out; everyone is welcomed…that would be a lot like our school. Our teachers and support staff work together as one. For me, it is much like meeting on the post office steps. New and familiar faces are always met with a smile and ‘Hi. How are you doing?’ I believe our school community is much the same.
Why am I a teacher?
Teaching and learning go hand in hand.
Forever.
I love learning, sharing the fruits of learning and learning more. Perhaps that is why I have taught in so many different disciplines, beginning with Physical Education and venturing to Science, Mathematics, Home Economics, Social Studies, Business Education, Information Technology, and several positions of responsibility.
Never quit, problem solve, share and learn more.
It is my sincere desire that our students embrace education as a lifelong endeavor.
Why Distributed Learning?
I have always had a passion for the integrated use of technology in education. From my initial use of computers, a CRAY computer at UBC (it had a room of its own), to the first computer in my school (a first generation MAC), I always believed that there was vast potential for sharing and the ability to build community in a virtual world. Today’s new technologies give us the ability to communicate freely, and technologies used as tools to support learning, can also be used to create social sharing places. This is a very integral part of learning and something that I find very exciting!
Welcome to our community! |
