Lynn Newhouse

I am an elementary teacher at the South Central Interior Distance Education School in Merritt. I have worked with Kindergarten through Grade Seven and have worked within the Distributed Learning environment for many years.

I have had the pleasure of watching Distributed Learning evolve from a purely paper based program to a blended program using technology to enhance students’ programs. I love having the flexibility to adapt programs to meet the unique needs of a student and family. Technology allows for all paper, a blend of paper and online, and interactivity online. The interactivity can be one on one assistance or group instruction. We also have the opportunity to travel to meet families, and learn about how diverse British Columbia is, both in how people live and where they live. I feel very fortunate to be part of the Distributed Learning environment.

I have one son. He has just finished a pre-apprenticeship in electricity and is looking for an apprenticeship in this area. I enjoy activities related to the outdoors, exploring it with my dog and my partner. We love to hike, camp and fish beginning in early April and going through to the end of October. My true passion is anything related to water, both fresh and the ocean. I grew up having a place on the ocean at Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast and have spent many hours exploring this ever changing environment.

I look forward to working with you and your family.
