Current Graduation Requirements (Starting in 2004)  

Graduation requires the successful completion of a minimum of 80 credits in courses numbered 10, 11 and 12.  There are 48 required course credits and a minimum of 28 elective course credits.  The final 4 credits are for the required Graduation Portfolio Assessment that follows a student through Grades 10, 11, and 12. Please note that a minimum of 16 credits must come from Grade 12 courses.

Electives ~ 28 Credits
Any courses, other than the required courses, are considered electives. For example, if you have met your Science 11 or 12 requirement by taking Chemistry 11, any other Science course now becomes an elective (eg: Chemistry 12, Biology 11 and 12 , Physics 11 and 12, etc.).
Graduation Transition ~ 4 Credits

Five provincial exams are required:  
Grade 10 English
Grade 10 Math
Grade 10 Science
Grade 12 English
Social Studies exam attached to your chosen grade11 or 12 option.
  
All other Grade 12 provincial exams are optional.  Where these exams aren't taken, the final mark is 100% based on class work.  Post-secondary institutions and scholarship eligibility may require provincial exams. Please check with the post secondary institution that you are thinking of applying to.

Graduation Requirements for students registered in

Grade 10 prior July 1, 2004

Graduation requires the successful completion of 52 credits in courses numbered 11 and 12. A minimum of 28 credits must be from Foundations Studies and a minimum of 24 credits from Selected Studies.

Selected Studies ~ 24 Credits  
Ten (10) additional credits must come from Grade 12 courses. These courses may be provincially approved or locally developed. Of the minimum 24 credits, students may use only a maximum of 8 credits from locally developed courses.
