Responsibilities of PARENTS whose child is enrolled in SCIDES

Parents must commit to:

• Using BC Ministry of Education-authorized curriculum and assessments.
• Signing their child’s learning plan as a commitment to having their child adhere to the timeline for submission of work, as negotiated.
• Communicating with their child’s teacher(s) regularly through a variety of modes as applicable to their location and availability of communication: e-mail, telephone calls, mail, face-to-face.
• Overseeing and supporting the work of their child, ensuring the submission of work (in all courses enrolled in) every two weeks, unless, by mutual agreement, a different schedule is agreed to.
• Making every effort to have their child participate in the Ministry of Education assessments (e.g. Foundation Skills Assessment, Student/Parent Satisfaction Surveys).
